A Day in Petropolis

Thank you for all the support I received from you on my previous post, it absolutely encouraged me to write and post more!

As you already know, I spent my vacation in Petrópolis (The Imperial City), I never get tired of this piece of Europe in Rio de Janeiro. Just so you know, the city has its name in honor to the last Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II whom used to spend his summer times there. Also, you can find the residences of important people around downtown, such as the "The Enchanted" Santos-Dumont's Chalet, the House of Princess Isabel, the House of the Seven Mistakes and much more, besides the germanic touch due to the German immigrants that arrived in 1822.


At the Imperial Museum, in addition to knowing the precious jewelry, crowns and furniture of the royal family, we can also see very close the carriages, especially the most famous: the Ceremonial Chariot of Dom Pedro II - known as Monte de Prata, built in 1837 and inaugurated on July 18, 1841, at the coronation of the Emperor and also at the marriages of his daughters. Awesome right?

For the second day, the weather was delightful which was pretty good for wandering around and visiting the Historical Center. Choosing a comfy and lightweight outfit is the key when you're about to walk so much, yes that's what I did - no regrets!

Obrigada por todo apoio que recebi de vocês no meu post anterior, isso me encorajou absolutamente a escrever e postar mais!

Como já sabem, passei minhas férias em Petrópolis (A Cidade Imperial), nunca me canso desse pedacinho da Europa no Rio de Janeiro. Se vocês ainda não conhecem, a cidade tem esse nome em homenagem ao último Imperador do Brasil, Dom Pedro II, que costumava passar o verão lá. Também, você pode encontrar residências de pessoas importantes por todo o centro, como a Casa do Santos-Dumont, a Casa da Princesa Isabel, a Casa dos 7 Erros e muito mais, além do toque alemão devido aos imigrantes que chegaram em 1822.

No Museu Imperial, além de conhecer as joias, coroas, roupas e mobílias preciosas da família real, podemos ver bem pertinho as carruagens, principalmente a mais famosa: a Carruagem Cerimonial de Dom Pedro II - conhecida como Monte de Prata, construída em 1837 e inaugurada em 18 de julho de 1841, na coroação do Imperador e também nos casamentos de suas filhas. Incrível né?

Para o segundo dia, o tempo estava agradável o que é ótimo para caminhar e visitar o Centro Histórico. Escolher uma roupa confortável e leve é a peça-chave quando se anda muito, o que eu fiz - sem arrependimentos!
